The 5 de Mayo is a Mexican national holiday, "Puebla Battle"

The holiday of Cinco De Mayo, The 5th Of May, commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. It is primarily a regional holiday celebrated in the Mexican state capital city of Puebla and throughout the state of Puebla, with some recognition in other parts of Mexico, and especially in U.S. cities with a significant Mexican population. It is not, as many people think, Mexico Independent Day which is actually September 16.

On this holiday which dates back to 1862, more than 4,000 Mexican soldiers defeated the French army of 8,000 at Puebla, Mexico. Today the holiday is not so politically charged and is seen as a celebration which usually involves drinking and partying. Any day that involved celebration usually sees an increase of activity at the online casinos as well.

And the online casinos usually do what they can in order to encourage gambling on their sites by offering special prize giveaways, bonus promotions and even specially themed games on holidays throughout the year. It's a way of encouraging new and repeat players to get in on the action.
